A concrete screed is a tool that is used to flatten the surface of concrete once it has been poured into the
forms. A roller screed is usually an aluminum tube that can roll across the surface and level the
concrete with much less effort that sliding a 2x4. The spinning action of the aluminum tube makes
it move almost effortlessly through the concrete, leveling it as it goes ahead.
There are manual versions of the roller screed, but most use some sort of electric or gas motor.
By adding power to them it alleviates stress on the crew making them the most time and labor
effiicient solution.
The combination of power and a roller makes
this type of screed hard to beat when it comes to doing large pours with limited labor
availability.
Pervious concrete is much easier to pour using a roller screed and is one of the reasons for the growing
popularity among concrete contractors.
